There are a lot of little-known holidays in October that would be fun to celebrate, even if it's on a small scale. These are some of the ones that I thought I would celebrate. October 21 American Frog Day Celebrate the frog by learning about their importance in the ecosystem, and then make it a year-round love affair (you don't need to kiss them.) They do a lot of the work that nobody else wants to do. Send them a card that you made on October 5 to let them know you appreciate them. October 24 National Kangaroo Awareness Day I thnk that we're all aware of kangaroos, but have you seen some of the videos showing them fighting each other, people, and large glass windows? They're pretty terrifying! Learn a little about kangaroos on Wikipedia today so that you have some kangaroo trivia knowledge. October 25 International Artist Day For International Artist Day, take a look at the directory of our members! We're all verified home-based creative businesses, and it's important to celebrate the arts so that future generations are encouraged to be creative throughout their lives. October 26 National Pumpkin Day It's pumpkin season, and if you don't have one to decorate for the fall yet, get one today. You don't even need to carve it into a jack-o-lantern or do anything to it. Put them outside your house to give your front steps an autumn look. October 27 National Black Cat Day Celebrate the black cats in your life! I only get black cats when I adopt a new one, because they're the hardest ones for rescue organizations to adopt out. It's the same thing for black dogs, people just don't choose them as often as other colors. It's too bad, because black cats are the best. October 28 National Chocolate Day I'm back to the desserts and candy, I can't stay away for long. Have some chocolate today, you have permission. October 29 National Oatmeal Day If you're going to eat oatmeal, put it in some cookies. Trunk Or Treat Everyone knows Halloween, but let's take time to celebrate Trunk Or Treat parties. These are usually community events that take the place or having kids go from house to house. They can include cars with their trunks open where kids can go to get candy (thus the trunk or treat name) and other events like costume contests, arts and crafts, bobbing for apples, and haunted houses. It's like a fall festival for Halloween that's a fun family event that combines trick or treating with other fun things for everyone to do. You can find invitations to send for your Trunk Or Treat party on Zazzle. Customize them then download, or have them printed so that you can send a physical copy to people.
