Buying fabric online can be a little tricky, but buying from our verified artisan members is safe! Buying fabric online is getting to be more common because it’s getting harder to find good fabric locally as large craft supply stores shut down.
Buying online is one way to get different patterns, but I’ve had some sketchy experiences buying fabric on Amazon. It’s not always what it’s described as being, which I’ve found out the hard way!
One way to make sure that you’re getting what you think you’re ordering is to shop with smaller businesses so that you can ask them questions about the fabric if you need to. Plus, they’re usually sewists themselves, as well as being fabric sellers, so they’re not going to sell something that’s a poor quality because they know the difference!
You can also get more interesting designs, or fabric that’s designed for specific uses, from indie designers.

Spoonflower.
Spoonflower is a site where independent designers can upload their original artwork to be printed onto fabric and other home decor items when someone orders them.
The print-on-demand business model is better environmentally, but you have to watch out for quality issues.

I’ve ordered a lot of fabric from Spoonflower before (I used all Spoonflower fabric to make this quilt) and the quality is really good. I had a problem with one order because they included someone else’s fabric along with what I had ordered, and their customer service was very helpful when I contacted them about it.
I have full-scale and dollhouse miniature scale fabrics on Spoonflower, and you can see those designs here.
Other directory members who sell on Spoonflower are here: Anne Londez, Martina Oser
, and Marlyn Smith.

Zazzle.

You can also get print-on-demand fabric on Zazzle, where some designs include customizable patterns that can include your photos and text.
You can also transfer fabric patterns to other products if you see a design that you like!
